On June 12, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) held a new edition of Thank U Day, an institutional event created to express gratitude to the individuals, companies, and foundations whose collaboration contributes to the university’s transformative impact on society.
The event, held in the Aula Magna and hosted by journalist Ramon Pellicer, brought together nearly 200 attendees, including faculty members, institutional representatives, and business leaders. Francesc Homs, President of the University Advisory Council, opened the event by highlighting the university’s commitment to shaping individuals through academic excellence and ongoing dialogue with society: “You —the companies— are the backbone of this project.”
In its sixth edition, UIC Barcelona gave special recognition to three institutions for their continued collaboration: the Puig Foundation, in the Talent category; the Joaquim Molins Figueras Foundation, in Research; and the “la Caixa” Foundation, in Care for people.
The Puig Foundation, with a solid track record of collaboration with UIC Barcelona, was recognized for its work in promoting university talent and its commitment to strengthening the connection between academia and the professional world. The institution’s president, Mr. Xavier Puig, accepted the award on behalf of the foundation: “We are proud to receive this recognition, and on behalf of the foundation and the Puig family, we sincerely thank you. Investing in talent and innovation in teaching is a strategic axis for improving our society.”
The rector, Dr. Méndiz, closed the event by thanking the university’s strategic partners: “This joint commitment is having a real impact on both students and society. Today is a day to celebrate these alliances, which make it possible to move forward with ambition and shared responsibilities.”
